The Putnam Horseshoe Nail company was one of the early manufacturers at Port Norfolk.  The attached illustration shows an advertisement including some of the day’s famous horses and reasons to buy the Putnam nail.  In 1890 eight and a half tons of nails were manufactured every day by 425 employees .

 2) have a great time touring this new Dorchester business and tasting samples of their products

 3) marvel at the handmade craftsmanship of the structure of a building that served as a manufacturing facility for Putnam Horseshoe Nails, Lawley Yachts, and Seymour Ice Cream, seen only by employees in the distant past

4) enjoy the light fare from Ashmont Grill (rumors are that the treats will have themes matching the historic industries just like the Distillery’s products, matching the Putnam New England Whiskey, Lawley’s New England Spirit, Seymour’s Local Roast Coffee Liqueur and more

St. Gregory’s School appeared in American Architect and Building News, March 20, 1918.

Francis X. Dolan became the pastor of St. Gregory’s in 1914. He undertook the construction of a grammar school which opened in 1915. A convent was opened in 1921.
